Karmic Connections believes that Black and Brown people need nature, mindfulness, art, and adventure to live a fulfilled life. We understand that other groups do too — but we’re focused on US right now.
Why? Black and Brown people have been systemically separated from nature through redlining practices dating back to the Jim Crow Era. Cities like Baltimore continue to feel the brunt of it.
With community assets like hiking trails, natural waterways, and fresh air usually being inaccessible by foot or bus from most Baltimore neighborhoods, Karmic Connections seeks to bridge the gap. We often pair our excursions with mindfulness practices like art, yoga, meditation, and breathing to calm the nervous systems of our community. Doing good is important to us too. So you can find us restoring nature through creek, beach, and stream clean ups or giving back to community members in need.
This function is for all ages. Our intergenerational experiences are designed to create space between you and the stressors of being disenfranchised — so that we have room to understand ourselves, each other and nature, too.
Our immersive journeys start right in Baltimore city in places like Herring Run Park. But we also branch out to explore pristine nature in the Afro-Indigenous diaspora in places like Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. Abroad, we layer cultural immersion and sustainable living to create a truly transformative experience.

Tapping into the pulse of nature means bringing awareness to the present moment — and naturally that means, slowing down. The experiences created by Karmic Connections allow marginalized community members who are typically confined to cities have the opportunity to take a breather. Even through simple yet meaningful activities like a beach clean up or a family style meal.
